A Day Trip to Garachico

In the three months I lived in Tenerife, I went to Garachico three times. I couldn't get enough of this town. It was small, full of locals, and every corner had a unique shop that had likely been in business for years. If you were to go to Garachico, make sure you have a rental car that’s in good condition — the switch backs up and down are absolutely no joke. From Golf del Sur, it took just over an hour to get there. The most efficient route to Garachico involves going through Santiago del Teide and El Tanque, which has a unique history of its own. Another time, however, my friends and I decided to take the route through Masca and Buenavista del Norte, which takes much longer but the views are absolutely insane. Here are some shots from my trips to Garachico and the stops along the way.

The small, cobblestoned streets of Garachico are by far my favourite part. When the sky is blue, the buildings shine in the sun, the botanical gardens tucked away in the back of the town are in full bloom, the mountains surrounding Garachico are lush, and locals are wandering or swimming in the natural rock pools.
